I saw some painted carvings in Montreal which had apparently been made by an artist in a Mexican village (I couldn't tell you where). They inspired me to make these papier-macke pieces depicting classic Canadian animals in a "Mexican" style. More to come!

Dodo (Raphus cucullatus) - extinct somewhere between 1688 and 1715
Great Auk (Pinguinus impennis) - last sighted in 1852
Western African Black Rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis longipes) - declared extinct in 2006
Caribbean Monk Seal (Monachus tropicalis) - declared extinct in 1996
Bubal Hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus buselaphus) - last specimen died in captivity in 1923
Golden Toad (Bufo periglenes) - last sighted in 1989
